Wall hanger with cardboard box

So much of boxes at home.  How much we could craft with it.
After a long break, I decided to do something for my kids room.  Something that they would feel nice and happy to look at while half asleep in their bed. What do you think it could be??

"STARS"..

Things needed
Cardboard
Golden paper ( gift wrapper left over or any glittery sheet that would be perfect for making stars )
Glue
Scissors
String or leftover yarn

I first made a rectangle shape with the cardboard and covered it up with the gift wrapper. Take another bigger cardboard and cover it with the same size gift wrapper using glue and dry it. Once dry you can it to star shapes, big and small.
After its dry,  attach the string to the starz using a needle. Now make holes in d rectangular cardboard and attach the stringed stars to it. You can arrange them the way you wish. Fix four strings on to the four corners of the rectangle and tie them up like a wall hanger, so that you can hang it up on the wall.

Im sure it would look more beautiful if you attach a night lamp under it.

A ring( you can cut one with a cardboard)

Bunch of any artificial flower that you have at home

I simply painted the dry pine cones in green, stuck them on a wire ring. A bunch of flowers that I made with nylon made it more colorful. Now it's hanging out on our house door :)

Nylon flower clips

Nylon flowers are very easy to make if you have the interest to learn. There are loads of video o  youtube and mostly they are self explanatory if you have the tools with you.

Since I learnt to make the flowers, I started to glue them with a hot glue gun on clips. They look perfect for my kids.

Now I can make matching hair accessories for them.

Wind chime

Inspired by me, my daughter wanted to do some craft and she started to ask me everyday. So I just decided to do something with her help.

We had a lot of flower pots left empty. And I was thinking tat we could do something with it. I searched pinterest and I found that the flower pot could be used to make a wind chime.

My daughter is very much interested with bead work. She had a cup full of colorful beads. So I gave her some strings and asked her to put some beads in it. I used some flowers made out milk jug and the sun catchers which was left at home for a long time. She painted them and was very happy to help me.

I used an empty plastic flower pot which has holes at the bottom. These holes made it easier for me to tie the strings.

Beads, milk jug flowers, sun catchers, strings and some ready made foam stickers were the things I used. If you have any other small decorative stuffs like bells or earings too could be used.

The end result was a colorful wind chime. I was so proud that my daughter took some time to help me. When I hung it up,  on the ceiling, I was happy to hear " that looks pretty " from both my lil girls :)

Try them and make your kids happy too :)

Egg carton flower wreath

Flowers are colorful and they are attractive. They always make us feel special. Not just spring needs to remind me of them , when I hear the word beautiful...I only think of flowers.  Making flowers with all the possible materials that I find at home has become a hobby for me now.

Egg cartons are the best recyclable material that could be used for flower making.  I found lots of videos on youtube and other websites which has loads of ideas about this one particular material. I found an attractive one on pinterest. They looked lovely, and I definitely wanted to try one, since spring is around the corner.

Things used :
Egg carton
Pair of scissors
Glue
Paint
Card board to make a ring.

I cut the egg carton into small hollow pieces, which is easy. Each egg holder could be shaped to a flower.  Some flowers had a second little flower stuck inside. After cutting them, I picked some attractive colors and painted them. Once dry I glued each flower into whatever way I wanted them to look like. I colored the cardboard ring in green and stuck all the flowers on it arranging them neatly. I also added few leaves.  Just need to cut the left over carton into a leaf shape and stick them around.

And the final result was a beautiful flower wreath for my house door :) Don't they look perfect for spring.

Crepe paper roses

Crepe papers that we use for decorations can also be used for making flowers. Most of us have tried this during school days, but my crepe flowers never looked so beautiful.

Things needed was just Crepe paper n glue to stick the ends.  I just took 2 long strips. Placed them one on top of each other. Twisted them starting from a triangular shape. There are lots of videos on youtube. If you dont know how to try them, check the videos and twist the strips with some patience. Once you feel the rose is complete, just stick the end with some glue, so that they don't fall apart.

Butterflies

The most cutest ones on earth "butterflies ".
I used an empty milk can or even if you haitte anyother can which is white plastic like the idhayam oil can, you can use that. In chennai we dont get these cans but idhayam oil comes in that can. People who get these milk cans can sure try these n decorate the house.
Draw a butterfly shape on a white paper and trace them by keeping the milk can material or any white plastic material. I used markers to color them. Infact only markers where used for everything.  Once the color is dry you can use any glittery buttons or beads to stick on it. Use glue and let it dry once you place the glitters.
Once they are dry, cut them to perfect butterfly shapes and fold in the middle and press it exactly in the body part, so the butterfly looks like they are flying. I used board pins to fix them to the wall. Once I leave to India, I should use something that makes the butterflies stick to the wall.
I made 4 butterflies, my daughter wanted mommy dada elder sister n a tiny younger sister. So there s a family up on the wall and they look so colorful.

Flower door wreath

Plastic bottles are the best recyclable material. Everyone of us have loads of ideas when asked what we can make with it. Plastic bottles already have flower shape at the bottom and the top part is where we have to use our creativity to shape the petals.

I found a video on YouTube that showed how to make flowers.  They looked very pretty.

Cut the bottom of the bottles and shape the upper part of the bottle and keep aside.  Paint them to colors of your choice. Use the left out plastic material to cut them to leaf shapes and paint them green. I used some glitter glue to make the flowers shinny. Once they are dry, stick them on a cardboard.

I made a ring shape with the card boards that we have at home. Stick the flowers on it close to each other with the leaves and let it dry.

There I got this beautiful wreath.

Flowers out of plastic egg holder

Recyclable...yes I tried flowers out of them again. ..
A big plastic egg holder. It was so easy to cut them to shapes. And the other materials are all the same that I have used before.

I ve posted all the pictures step by step. I tried a different  arrangement with the flowers, but din like them much..so I just made a bunch and they look pretty.

Used plastic egg holder, scissors, paints, sticks, green tape, beads.

I cut the shapes and arranged about four shapes one inside another, after painting them. Made a hole in the middle and inserted them to the sticks, tightening them with a bead.

All that you need is taking time to cut them and paint them. You can arrange the flowers as you like.

More canvas paintings

Some paintings when Im really bored. I just love colours and wanted most of my paintings to look colourful. So I just select pictures which are colourful and attractive.

The parrot painting is jude s photography that became a canvas painting for me.
The painting of the trees was an inspiration during the fall season and that's my favourite.
The butterfly painting was an image that I picked from a website. I wanted to paint something colourful, so picked these prettiest colourul creatures.
The tulips painting on a canvas board was a gift to jude on his birthday. Im jobless, dont know driving either to get a good gift from the shop. So painted it with love and gifted him :) PERFECT aren't they...

Construction paper flowers

This was my second try on making flowers with something that we find mostly in all shops.

I used construction paper, pair of scissors to cut the shapes. Glue to stick them on a stick.

Tried this just to fill an empty vase.

Pistachio flowers

My elder daughter loves pistachio but I always wanted to make something with the shells since they are well shaped like a petal. I gifted this to Jude on our wedding anniversary.

I stuck the shells using glue on a canvas board like a flower. The extra art work is easy, as it was the leaves that I had to draw and paint. Gave a background colour. I picked up a verse from the bible about love and wrote it with a marker.

Homemade and selfmade gift for a loved one.

Milk jug flowers

What can we do with milk jugs once its empty? Throw them away. Nope. Look at the flowers I made. They look so pretty in the magazine basket.

Empty milk jug that I used to cut the flower shape. Painted them red with yellow shades inside. Dried them and inserted them to a stick with a small bead in the middle to hold the flower. Green tape to wrap the stick so that it looks like a stem. You just need to mold the petals up and down so that they look well arranged.

These flowers were liked by many of my friends on facebook and thats when my brother gave me an idea to create this blog since I'm a jobless mom trying out all these ;)
