Crepe paper roses

Crepe papers that we use for decorations can also be used for making flowers. Most of us have tried this during school days, but my crepe flowers never looked so beautiful.

Things needed was just Crepe paper n glue to stick the ends.  I just took 2 long strips. Placed them one on top of each other. Twisted them starting from a triangular shape. There are lots of videos on youtube. If you dont know how to try them, check the videos and twist the strips with some patience. Once you feel the rose is complete, just stick the end with some glue, so that they don't fall apart.

Butterflies

The most cutest ones on earth "butterflies ".
I used an empty milk can or even if you haitte anyother can which is white plastic like the idhayam oil can, you can use that. In chennai we dont get these cans but idhayam oil comes in that can. People who get these milk cans can sure try these n decorate the house.
Draw a butterfly shape on a white paper and trace them by keeping the milk can material or any white plastic material. I used markers to color them. Infact only markers where used for everything.  Once the color is dry you can use any glittery buttons or beads to stick on it. Use glue and let it dry once you place the glitters.
Once they are dry, cut them to perfect butterfly shapes and fold in the middle and press it exactly in the body part, so the butterfly looks like they are flying. I used board pins to fix them to the wall. Once I leave to India, I should use something that makes the butterflies stick to the wall.
I made 4 butterflies, my daughter wanted mommy dada elder sister n a tiny younger sister. So there s a family up on the wall and they look so colorful.

Flower door wreath

Plastic bottles are the best recyclable material. Everyone of us have loads of ideas when asked what we can make with it. Plastic bottles already have flower shape at the bottom and the top part is where we have to use our creativity to shape the petals.

I found a video on YouTube that showed how to make flowers.  They looked very pretty.

Cut the bottom of the bottles and shape the upper part of the bottle and keep aside.  Paint them to colors of your choice. Use the left out plastic material to cut them to leaf shapes and paint them green. I used some glitter glue to make the flowers shinny. Once they are dry, stick them on a cardboard.

I made a ring shape with the card boards that we have at home. Stick the flowers on it close to each other with the leaves and let it dry.

There I got this beautiful wreath.

Flowers out of plastic egg holder

Recyclable...yes I tried flowers out of them again. ..
A big plastic egg holder. It was so easy to cut them to shapes. And the other materials are all the same that I have used before.

I ve posted all the pictures step by step. I tried a different  arrangement with the flowers, but din like them much..so I just made a bunch and they look pretty.

Used plastic egg holder, scissors, paints, sticks, green tape, beads.

I cut the shapes and arranged about four shapes one inside another, after painting them. Made a hole in the middle and inserted them to the sticks, tightening them with a bead.

All that you need is taking time to cut them and paint them. You can arrange the flowers as you like.

More canvas paintings

Some paintings when Im really bored. I just love colours and wanted most of my paintings to look colourful. So I just select pictures which are colourful and attractive.

The parrot painting is jude s photography that became a canvas painting for me.
The painting of the trees was an inspiration during the fall season and that's my favourite.
The butterfly painting was an image that I picked from a website. I wanted to paint something colourful, so picked these prettiest colourul creatures.
The tulips painting on a canvas board was a gift to jude on his birthday. Im jobless, dont know driving either to get a good gift from the shop. So painted it with love and gifted him :) PERFECT aren't they...

Construction paper flowers

This was my second try on making flowers with something that we find mostly in all shops.

I used construction paper, pair of scissors to cut the shapes. Glue to stick them on a stick.

Tried this just to fill an empty vase.

Pistachio flowers

My elder daughter loves pistachio but I always wanted to make something with the shells since they are well shaped like a petal. I gifted this to Jude on our wedding anniversary.

I stuck the shells using glue on a canvas board like a flower. The extra art work is easy, as it was the leaves that I had to draw and paint. Gave a background colour. I picked up a verse from the bible about love and wrote it with a marker.

Homemade and selfmade gift for a loved one.

Milk jug flowers

What can we do with milk jugs once its empty? Throw them away. Nope. Look at the flowers I made. They look so pretty in the magazine basket.

Empty milk jug that I used to cut the flower shape. Painted them red with yellow shades inside. Dried them and inserted them to a stick with a small bead in the middle to hold the flower. Green tape to wrap the stick so that it looks like a stem. You just need to mold the petals up and down so that they look well arranged.

These flowers were liked by many of my friends on facebook and thats when my brother gave me an idea to create this blog since I'm a jobless mom trying out all these ;)

Magazine basket

Now that I ve learnt how to make flowers. I wanted to make a vase or some basket to hold the flowers. Checked every way to do one but din have enough patience with my two little bratz trying to play with all that I picked to make one. I somehow got them occupied and tried this magazine basket.

Lots of magazines, card board, pair of scissors, a thin stick or tooth pick, clips to hold the glued part for sometime till it dries, paint and tons of patience.

Check youtube for the video.

Nylon flowers

Just wanted to try making nylon flowers. I ve been hunting everywhere to get this nylon material.  When I was in India I never had the time to go to places looking out for this material. Somehow I found an online shopping and got the material after I moved to PA.  It was like a dream come true when I tried making them. The supplies are more cheaper than the shipping cost. This is the only reason why I wanted to try with all the material that we have handy at home. However this was a worthy n beautiful one.

Nylon material, stems, leaves, green tape, and some flower making supplies. I made them and gifted them to some of my friends and they loved it.

Anyone willing to spend enough for shipping or if you know a place where you get these supplies , and ofcourse if you have the interest, you can make beautiful bunches and decorate your house or gift them to your loved ones.

I definitely dont want to spend so much. So check my other posts where I ve used recylable material.

Empty Tissue paper rolls wall hanger

I ve always stored the tissue rolls , but ended up throwing them away after I found I cud nt do anything with it. Finally I found a video which showed that how I cud make flowers out of them. Flowers " its always fascinating" when I hear that word. Made up my mind when I just had one and half roll in hand.
Tissue rolls, glue, paints, and some glitters.
Cut them into leafy shapes, painted them and stuck them together with some glittery spots in the middle.
I just love the outcome and planning to make more designs that I have in mind .

I found time to make a new pattern finally. Just tat I added some tiny construction paper flowers on the leafy pattern. This is the best craft that I ve ever made I feel.

Canvas painting

Tinker bell craze for my daughters. My elder daughter is so crazy about tinker bell that she passed it on to my younger daughter too. They keep watching it till date and have memorized each and every word from the movie. It s so funny to hear my lil one say " toto " for tinker bell.

I used a canvas board. A picture taken from the web, tinkerbell and periwinkle. Pencil drawing after which I used acrylic paints. Gifted it to them...the most loving sisters.

White paper flowers

2013 I travelled with my family to Pennysylvania just with luggages packed only with our clothes and some kitchen utensils.  Reached a house with no flowers in any corner of the house. It was just white everywhere with just a couch and a dinning table in the living room. Found just an empty flowervase..which was used as a hammer by jude.

I used some white sheets of paper. Some twigs from the park, thread, a pair of scissors and paint. Painted the twigs green n d paper petals red after tying them to the twig. A paper salt container that I turned it to a flower vase with some decorations around it.

Why should I go to the shop to buy one...

My 1st painting...

That was my very 1st painting after our wedding. Jude gifted me a painting kit so that I could sketch something that I liked. I just surprised him by painting our wedding pic. It was a try years after my school and college days. Ended up with compliments from everyone, except for Jude who just had a question for me " Whose that Aunty next to me ?". It was a joke though. I started painting more and more after this, whenever I found some time.

All that I used for this was my paints and the sketch pad that Jude gifted. And yes a wedding pic of us together :)

About Me

JoblessMummy....What a title...It's all my Brother's idea  for me to start a blog with all the creative stuff Im making with my two little brats running around. Stuck in my house for months n weeks during winter made me do all the crappy stuffs yet they look beautiful. I miss India..I miss my bike n I miss Chennai the most. I can just take my bike n go get whatever I need for my art n crafts work if I was in Chennai. Staying in Philadelphia for a year, has made life more boring, except for the weather and the fresh air and of course the pleasant environment. I do some paintings at time, I most of all I always have a liking for flowers n nature. Most of my paintings will have flowers, which I love to draw from my school days. I din use my talent much in my college days, and I regret that until this moment. So I just made up my mind to do something creative with all that I get at home. During my school days n college days I had a lots of my sketches, which I lost in an unfortunate fire accident. I miss them, and especially miss showing them to my little ones. So Im making the best use of my talent and showing them all the crafts work and paintings that I do at home.

I created this blog for Mummy's who are bored at home. If you are interested in making crafty items at home. You can check my blog. Thanx to my brother Johnson Ebenezer for this wonderful Idea.
